GET ON A ROLL

Whether you’re going away for the weekend or jetting off to the Caribbean, smart packing will give you the edge—especially since airlines nowadays insist on reducing your luggage allowance to something Stuart Little would find portable. However, you can fight back with the “Army Roll.”

You’re bound to have plenty of T-shirts in your case, and it just so happens that they are supremely compactible. Lay your shirt out flat and make a cuff of about one and a half inches at the bottom. Next, make two folds, left and right, to divide your shirt longwise into thirds. Then take the collar end of your shirt and roll until you reach the cuff at the bottom—then tuck the roll into the cuff!
